Conservative Evangelicals: Why don't you act like you believe what you say you do about Salvation?

Sometimes it seems like they believe that not so much as a matter of faith, but it is comforting for them to know that those who are wicked will reap what they sew. Keep in mind that they tend to see the world as a corrupt, and thoroughly evil and sinful wasteland.
